Electronic. Polyphonic.

Ironing board and theramin.
Birmingham based band who play a multitude of instruments. Rosie has an excellent voice. The overall effect is etherial. Well worth seeing live if you get the chance.

"On a website (andypryke.com), you were compared you to Shiitake Mushrooms and truffles as 'You can only be experienced and not described'...

Max: Like it!
Matt: What's the mushroom?
Max: Shiitake?you mean you've never tried them?
Matt: Not sure I like the sound of truffles?I prefer Shiitake mushrooms?it sounds better.
Sam: I think we've got quite a lot of layers like a mushroom. (laughs)"

Pram Gig 6th Feb 2003

Saw a great pram gig at the Medicine Bar. The band has 2 new members, a guitarist - who I reco.gnised from somewhere, and Lucy??? who plays Trumpet (etc.) with Mistys Big Adventure. One thing which stands out with Pram is the versitility of the musicians, with most of the members playing 2,3 or more instruments. Rosies etherial voice and the complex layering of instruments made a sound which was pure qualia, capable only of being experienced but not described, like the taste of Shiitake Mushrooms or Truffles. The set included a couple of tracks which I know quite well, though I'd have to listen to the albumns to work out what they're called, as well as (I assume) tracks from their new albumn Dark Island. The new albumn wasn't available at the gig, I'm not sure if this was due to distribution arrangements or if it just hadn't been pressed yet.

Also playing were Mike In Mono and Floach

Pram have a new album out on Domino Records called Dark Island. Haven't heard it yet, but it's got good reviews:

They're also gigging, with Mike In Mono and Floach on the 7th of Feb 2003 - http://www.capsule.org.uk/coming/pram/pram.htm - plus a load of other places in the UK and Europe - http://www.securesite8.com/~dominor/tours.php
